Understand the weight

Measure the package. State the divisor. Compare its weights.

04 · Chargeable weight

Compare first. Add afterwards.

Per-package comparison prevents dense and bulky parcels from wrongly offsetting one another. Confirm rounding and minimums with your carrier.

Synthetic example A

Bulky and light

Preparing a large carton for weighing

60 × 40 × 30 ÷ 5000 = 14.4 kg

Actual weight: 4 kg

14.4 kg

Higher value · no rounding

Synthetic example B

Compact and dense

Dense metal components packed in a small carton

30 × 20 × 10 ÷ 5000 = 1.2 kg

Actual weight: 7 kg

7 kg

Higher value · no rounding

14.4 + 7 = 21.4 kg

Add the higher value selected for each parcel.

Checking three parcels separately

Why do totals alone mislead?

Actual weights total 11 kg and dimensional weights total 15.6 kg. Choosing 15.6 kg from these totals ignores each parcel’s comparison. Under the per-package method in this example, the correct result is 21.4 kg.

Actual chargeable weight remains subject to service rules, including minimums and rounding. This tool gives a selected total under your inputs, not a promise of an invoice amount.
